This will not be one of the usual tournament formats you have played in the past. Due to the disparate level difference between several of our players, we have created this format so all of us can have fun in this tournament.
Seeding-
Seeding has been determined by the Tournament Events Committee.
Tier 1: Top 6 seeded Players Tier 2: Seed 7 - 12 Tier 3: Seed 13 - 18 Tier 4: Seed 19 – 24
Draw-
All players will be divided in to 6 Teams, Team 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6. Each Team will have total of FOUR players, one player from each Tier. Each team will have no more than 1 female player if we have 6 or less female players enter the tournament.
Tier 1 players will draw a numbered ping-pong ball to determine teams, and then each Tier 1 players will select one player from the remaining to join their team. Lowest Seeded Tier 1 player will select first. Then the rest of the players will draw a numbered ping-pong ball to determine teams. When a female player drawing, the number of those teams who already has a female on their roster will be removed to ensure they have no more than 1 female player on their team.
Team Captains-
The Tier 1 players from each team will be automatically assigned as Team Captains unless teams specify otherwise.
Format-
All Teams will be divided into 2 Groups, group A & B, each group will have 3 teams and play round robin. Odd Number Teams will be assigned to Group A, Even Number Teams will be assigned to Group B. Group A (A1, A3, A5), Group B (B2, B4, B6).
Group Stage (Round Robin)
Each team will play one doubles game against 2 other teams in the same group. Teams can arrange any player combination to fill the line-up, but all 4 players must be used in each match.
If we have exact 6 female players join the tournament (one per group), group stage will have ONE Men’s Double and ONE Mixed Double. If we do not have exact 6 female players, all teams will need to position their pair as #1 and #2 team to against the opponent #1 and #2 team.
Elimination stage
As stated above, if we have exact 6 female players, the first game will be a Men's Double match. The next game will be the Mixed Doubles match. The two players who play in the Men's Double match may not play in the Mixed Doubles match. If we do not have exact 6 female players, all teams will need to position their pair as #1 and #2 team to against the opponent #1 and #2 team.
If one team wins both matches, they win the round. If the teams split the matches, then a third tiebreaker match will be played. While any 2 of the 4 players on the team may be used to make up the doubles team for the third match, no previous pairing in the match will be allowed. Each team must come up with a different combination. For example, if Players A, B, C, and D are on the same team, and A&D play the first match, and B&C play the second match, then if there is a tie, then the pairing for the third match must be either A&B, A&C, B&D or C&D.
